The Good Wind
By discovering evocative landscapes in places that have been marked in modern times by violence, and that are now quiet or suspended in a cold peace, the work concerns itself with mending, healing, repressing and transcending old violence. The research is local, one spot at a time, but in four different countries.
As usual I can't predict the film's final form, but it will plumb fresh, authentic field recordings and lots of archive. The goal is to create, at its heart, a cinematic work that audiences experience together live.
Researching material for part of the The Good Wind has been supported by the hospitality provided during Goethe Institut in Greece - Thessaloniki Artist Residency in spring, 2019; the research will continue by other means from winter 2020 in Ireland and Egypt, and later in Canada and one location in northern Greece.
